The Giggling Rainbow

Rosie the rainbow slid across the sky, her colors bright and beautiful. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple shimmered in the sunlight. Usually, Rosie's eyes sparkled, and her big smile made everyone happy. Every day, Rosie slid and slid, spreading joy to all. The sun smiled, and the clouds danced. The animals below looked up and waved. But today was different. Rosie slid and slid, but where was her giggle? She looked left. She looked right. No giggle! Rosie's smile turned upside down. She was confused. "Oh no," said Rosie. "Where's my laugh?" The animals noticed something was wrong. A fluffy white bunny hopped out of his burrow. He looked up at Rosie with big, worried eyes. "Rosie, Rosie!" called the bunny. "Why aren't you laughing?" A small brown squirrel scampered down from his tree. He tilted his head and watched Rosie. "Rosie, Rosie!" chirped the squirrel. "We miss your giggles!" Rosie slid back and forth across the sky. She looked in the puffy white clouds. She peeked behind the sun. But her laugh was nowhere to be found. The bunny and squirrel looked at each other. They knew they had to help their friend Rosie. But how could they make a rainbow laugh? Rosie kept sliding. The animals kept watching. Everyone wondered: will Rosie ever find her giggle again? As the day went on, Rosie's colors seemed a little less bright. The sky wasn't as sunny without her laughter. The animals knew they had to do something to help their colorful friend find her missing giggle.

In the green meadow below, Fluffy the bunny looked up at Rosie. Fluffy was small and white, with floppy ears and a pink nose that twitched. He wanted to help Rosie find her laugh. "I know!" said Fluffy. "I'll bounce up high to make Rosie smile!" Fluffy bent his little legs and pushed off the ground. Boing! He bounced up. "Bounce, bounce, higher and higher!" Fluffy said. But Fluffy didn't reach Rosie. He tried again. Boing! Boing! He bounced higher. "Bounce, bounce, higher and higher!" Fluffy said again. Rosie watched Fluffy bounce. Her frown started to change. A tiny smile appeared. Fluffy saw Rosie's smile. He got excited and bounced even harder. Boing! Boing! Boing! "Bounce, bounce, higher and higher!" Fluffy said once more. Fluffy bounced so high, he almost touched Rosie's colorful stripes. Rosie's smile grew bigger. "Oh!" said Rosie. "Fluffy, you're so funny!" Fluffy's ears flopped as he landed in the soft grass. He looked up at Rosie, happy to see her smiling. "Rosie!" Fluffy called. "Did I make you laugh?" Rosie's smile was big now, but she still didn't giggle. She shook her head. "Not yet, Fluffy," said Rosie. "But thank you for trying!" Fluffy's nose twitched. He wanted to hear Rosie laugh again. He looked around the meadow, wondering what else he could do. Just then, Nutkin the squirrel scampered over. He had been watching Fluffy's big bounces. "Don't worry, Fluffy," said Nutkin. "I have an idea to make Rosie laugh!" Rosie watched her friends below, her smile still growing. What would Nutkin do to help her find her giggle?

Nutkin the squirrel scampered over to the big oak tree. He was small and brown, with a bushy tail and bright eyes. Nutkin looked up at Rosie and saw her tiny smile. "I know!" said Nutkin. "I'll do a silly dance to make Rosie laugh!" Nutkin stood on his hind legs and began to spin. Round and round he went. "Spin, spin, wiggle, wiggle!" Nutkin said. Rosie watched Nutkin twirl. Her smile grew a little bigger. Nutkin saw Rosie's smile and spun faster. He wiggled his bushy tail back and forth. "Spin, spin, wiggle, wiggle!" Nutkin said again. Acorns scattered around as Nutkin danced. He hopped from one foot to the other, still spinning. "Spin, spin, wiggle, wiggle!" Nutkin said once more. Rosie's eyes sparkled as she watched. Her smile was now very big. "Oh!" said Rosie. "Nutkin, you're so silly!" Nutkin stopped spinning and looked up at Rosie. He was dizzy but happy to see her big smile. "Rosie!" Nutkin called. "Did I make you laugh?" Rosie's smile was huge now, but she still didn't giggle. She shook her head. "Not yet, Nutkin," said Rosie. "But thank you for trying!" Nutkin's tail twitched. He wanted to hear Rosie laugh again. He looked around the oak tree, wondering what else he could do. Just then, Fluffy the bunny hopped over. He had been watching Nutkin's silly dance. "Don't worry, Nutkin," said Fluffy. "I have an idea! Let's work together to make Rosie laugh!" Rosie watched her friends below, her smile bigger than ever. What would Fluffy and Nutkin do next to help her find her giggle?

Fluffy and Nutkin looked at each other with big smiles. They had a plan to make Rosie laugh! "Let's work together!" said Fluffy. "Yes, let's be silly!" said Nutkin. Fluffy started to bounce, and Nutkin began to dance. They sang a funny song: "Bounce and dance, wiggle and prance!" Rosie watched her friends, her smile growing bigger and bigger. Other animals saw the fun and joined in. A bird flapped its wings, a frog hopped high, and a deer pranced around. "Bounce and dance, wiggle and prance!" they all sang. Rosie's eyes sparkled with joy as she watched her friends. Fluffy bounced higher than ever. Nutkin spun faster and faster. All the animals were being so silly! "Bounce and dance, wiggle and prance!" they sang louder. Suddenly, Rosie felt something bubbling inside her. It tickled and tingled. And then... "Hee hee hee!" Rosie giggled. Colorful sparkles burst from her laugh, showering down on her friends. "Hooray!" cheered all the animals. "Rosie's giggle is back!" Rosie's colors became brighter than ever. She slid across the bright blue sky, her laughter filling the air. "Thank you, friends!" Rosie called. "You made me laugh again!" The animals danced and cheered, happy to hear Rosie's giggles once more. From that day on, whenever Rosie felt sad, she remembered her friends' silly dance. It always made her laugh.
