Once upon a time, deep in a mossy forest where sunlight barely touched the ground, there lived a particularly grumpy troll under an ancient stone bridge. This troll had never known friendship or kindness, and spent his days scowling at passing creatures and muttering about how he preferred to be left alone. He had lived this way for so many years that the local animals had given up trying to be friendly with him, and even the cheerful morning birds knew better than to sing too close to his bridge. A Raindrop's Gift
Grungle stomped around his bridge home, his mossy green skin blending with the damp stones. His crooked nose twitched in annoyance as cheerful birdsong floated down from above. "Too noisy, too happy," he grumbled, shooing away a curious rabbit with his large, calloused hands.
Suddenly, an unusual spring rain began. Among the droplets, one special raindrop shimmered with rainbow colors, landing on a withered flower near his bridge. In a flash of light, the flower transformed into a tiny, glowing sprite with translucent wings.
"I'm Dewdrop!" she announced, floating near Grungle's furrowed brow. Despite his scowling and protests, she stayed, helping him tidy his home and teaching him to grow glowing mushrooms that made his dark space cozy.
When spring floods threatened a family of mice nearby, Dewdrop convinced Grungle to help. Using his troll strength, he created a safe path with stones and fallen logs. The grateful mice hosted a feast, and soon other forest creatures joined in.
That evening, Grungle sat under his transformed bridge home, watching the luminous mushrooms glow. Dewdrop perched on his mossy shoulder, and the mouse family shared stories nearby. For the first time in years, his permanent scowl softened into a gentle smile. Perhaps friendship wasn't so terrible after all.
