"Look!" Roberta pointed toward a crystal archway that seemed to materialize between two ancient oaks. As they approached, a distinguished owl wearing a tweed vest and spectacles swooped down to greet them.
"I am Professor Hoots," the owl announced formally, "and we have a rather urgent situation." He explained that an ancient spell was threatening to freeze all magic in the realm, his golden eyes grave behind his round glasses.
"We need moonflower petals and starlight-touched dew," Professor Hoots instructed. But when it came to collecting these ingredients, Roberta wanted to follow the butterfly trails while Nico insisted on using his watch to track magical time patterns.
"We can't split up," Roberta protested, clutching her notebook. "It's too dangerous!"
"But we'll cover more ground," Nico argued, his blue eyes sparking with determination.
As they stood beneath the crystal arch, their friendship faced its first real test, while the golden butterfly trails slowly began to fade around them.
The Last Sparkle of Magic
The golden light was fading fast, and Roberta's hands trembled as she sketched the magical currents in her notebook. "Hurry!" Nico whispered, holding his backward-ticking pocket watch steady. Professor Hoots perched nearby, his spectacles glinting with worry.
